SDoC

NBTC Certification for Bluetooth Devices

Bluetooth devices require NBTC certification before they can be imported or sold in Thailand. All standard Bluetooth products operating in the 2.4 GHz band qualify for Supplier's Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) — the lightest certification path under NBTC regulations.

What Counts as a Bluetooth Device?

For NBTC certification purposes, any device whose primary or secondary wireless function uses Bluetooth — regardless of product category — is subject to this certification requirement. This includes Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices. Common examples include:

  • Consumer Electronics: Headphones, earbuds, wireless speakers, soundbars, keyboards, mice, game controllers, remote controls
  • Wearables & Health: Smartwatches, fitness trackers, hearing aids, blood pressure monitors, continuous glucose monitors
  • Smart Home & IoT: Smart locks, lighting controllers, home sensors, asset trackers, beacons
  • Industrial & Professional: Barcode scanners, handheld terminals, wireless measurement instruments

Certification Requirements

Bluetooth operates in the 2400–2483.5 MHz range, which falls within the Non-specific (multi application) band of 2400–2500 MHz under NBTC regulation. “Non-specific” refers to general authorisation under the NBTC Announcement regarding equipment permitted for general use — it covers short-range wireless technologies operating in this band without a designated application of their own.

Multi-radio products: Many products combine Bluetooth with Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi components operating in any RLAN band also follow the SDoC path. No additional certification class is triggered by the Wi-Fi radio alone. See the Wi-Fi Router & Access Point page for band-specific details.

Required Documents

SDoC is a self-declaration path. The applicant is responsible for ensuring that supporting documentation is complete and accurate before submission.

  • Technical specification or datasheet including wireless communication details
  • Product photos
  • RF test reports from accredited laboratories
  • Authorised declaration

No physical product sample submission is required.

Indicative Timeline

SDoCApproximately 1 week from submission

Additional time may be required if NBTC requests supplementary documents during review.
