NBTC Certification for VHF/UHF Land Mobile Radio
Two-way radios and land mobile transceivers — base station, vehicle-mounted mobile, and hand-portable (walkie-talkie) — operating in the 30–960 MHz VHF/UHF band require NBTC Class B certification before they can be imported or sold in Thailand. This applies to both analog speech and digital voice/data radios.
What This Page Covers
This page covers land mobile service radios used for two-way voice or data communication — including handheld radios for security, hospitality, construction, and event use; vehicle-mounted mobile radios; and base station equipment — operating on channel spacings of 6.25 kHz and/or 12.5 kHz within 30–960 MHz. Actual channel assignments follow NBTC's land mobile frequency plans, which allocate VHF at 137–174 MHz and UHF at 401–405.9 MHz, 406.2–410 MHz, and 430–450 MHz.
Digital trunked radio systems and MF/HF land mobile equipment are certified under separate NBTC standards and are outside the scope of this page.
Why Class B?
NBTC TS 1001-2564 (analog speech) and NBTC TS 1024-2564 (digital voice and/or data) — the two standards that govern this equipment — each state that compliance must be demonstrated under NBTC's Class B certification scheme. There is no SDoC or Class A pathway for VHF/UHF land mobile radios.
