Class B

NBTC Certification for Smartphones & Tablets

Smartphones and tablets require NBTC Class B certification before they can be sold or imported into Thailand. Class B is the most stringent certification tier under the NBTC framework and applies to any device that transmits on cellular frequency bands — including GSM, WCDMA, LTE, and 5G NR.

Why Class B?

Cellular devices transmit on licensed spectrum allocated to mobile network operators in Thailand. NBTC requires Class B certification — formal type approval — for any device that operates on these bands. There are no SDoC or Class A pathways for cellular transmission.

This page is for device manufacturers. If you are looking for information on cellular modules, modems, or terminal equipment, see Cellular Equipment.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in smartphones: If the device also includes Wi-Fi or Bluetooth radios, those are addressed under their own applications within the same submission. These do not change the overall certification class — Class B applies to any device with cellular transmission.

Required Documents

  • Technical specification or datasheet including wireless communication details
  • Product photos
  • Test reports (RF, Safety, EMF as applicable) from accredited laboratories
