NBTC Certification for Wireless Microphones

Wireless microphones transmit audio signals via radio frequency and require NBTC certification before they can be imported or sold in Thailand. The applicable certification path depends on the operating frequency band. Devices in the 88–108 MHz and 165–210 MHz ranges qualify for SDoC, while devices operating in the 694–806 MHz range require Class A Registration.

What Counts as a Wireless Microphone?

NBTC certification requirements under the Wireless Microphone application apply to any RF-transmitting audio device in the designated frequency bands, including:

  • Handheld wireless microphones
  • Lavalier (clip-on) microphones with bodypack transmitters
  • Headset microphones with bodypack transmitters
  • In-ear monitor (IEM) transmitter systems
  • Wireless microphone receiver units

Certification Requirements

All bands are governed by NBTC TS 1006-2568.

Note on the 694–806 MHz range:This range falls within Thailand's digital dividend spectrum, reallocated following the transition from analogue to digital terrestrial television broadcasting. The three sub-bands require Class A Registration regardless of transmit power.

Required Documents

For SDoC submissions:

  • Technical specification or datasheet including wireless communication details
  • Product photos
  • Test reports (RF, Safety, EMF/SAR as applicable) from accredited laboratories
  • Authorised declaration

For Class A submissions (additional requirement):

  • ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation certificate and laboratory scope

No physical product sample submission is required.

Indicative Timeline

SDoCApproximately 1 week from submission
Class AApproximately 5 weeks from submission

Additional time may be required if NBTC requests supplementary documents during review.
